For nearly a decade, Woking Tigers has called Alpha Recreation Ground home. Since launching our youth football sessions there nearly ten years ago, the site has grown into a true community hub. But over time, we’ve also come to understand that the facilities need a major upgrade to give our community the quality and opportunity it deserves.
Alpha Rec has long been used by local clubs, schools and residents. Many people have grown up on this field and hold fond memories of spending time there. In recent years, we’ve hosted community events and activities to bring people together once again, helping to restore the field’s place at the heart of local life.
Right now, we’re inviting our community to help make this vision a reality. Our one-off target of £25,000 will enable us to take the next big step, building the facilities and foundations that will serve generations to come. Once achieved, this investment will continue to give back to the people who made it possible: our community.
From 2025/26, Woking Tigers will take on a long-term lease of Alpha Recreation Ground. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter. Our vision is to transform the site into a vibrant, welcoming centre where families gather, sport thrives and the community connects.
A key part of this plan is the 3G Project: a small, all-weather, floodlit surface that can support year-round activity. The new pitch will relieve pressure on the grass areas, allowing both to be better maintained and used more often. It will also open the door to more training, matches and community programmes, while encouraging new groups to make use of the clubhouse and surrounding space.
Our commitment to taking on Alpha Recreation Ground is about more than sport. It’s about creating a space that’s well cared for, accessible to everyone and reinvested in for future generations.
